What are Contemporary Arts?

Under this section, the Bhutan Cultural Atlas gathers information on the contemporary art and cultural scenery of Bhutan, in particular those cultural expressions that use the medium other than the traditional ones.

These would include:

• Publishing and literature;
• Music and performing arts (other than traditional religious / folkloric ones);
• Visual arts (painting and sculpture other than traditional religious items; photography…)
• Design (including fashion, architecture…) ;
• Audiovisual and new media (film, TV programme…)
