Intangible Heritage in Bumthang

Bumthang retains a strong sense of identity which is manifested in its rich intangible heritage. The region has its specific language called Bumthangkha, a non-written language belonging to the Eastern Proto-Bodish sub-group of the large Tibeto-Burman family with manywords borrowed from classical Tibetan. It has numerous village festivals, arts and crafts and culinary specialities.
